Skechers are something which have never really entered my life.
I haven't worn sneakers since 1998 and I don't intend to any time soon. However the brand have just settled a £40 million lawsuit over their 'weight loss sneakers'.
The trainers described as Resistance Runner, Toners and Tone ups have been sued for false advertising after the company claimed the shoe helped to burn fat, tone and improve posture.
The FTC released this statement in relation to the sneaker : “But when comparing its toning footwear to standard fitness shoes, Skechers put its foot in its mouth by making unproven claims that its toning footwear strengthened muscles, increases weight loss, reduces body fat, and improves circulation and aerobic conditioning. They said that people lost weight when in fact they gained weight.'
How does a sneaker make you gain weight?
I am not sure if this is going to affect refunds or if you can even get a refund for this sort of thing. I am sure however, that people are going to try.....
