So Friday was interesting! I was in town for two days while getting some research and various press bits done over the last days and while I was there - Helena Christensen was also there! She was promoting a new line of Triumph underwear in Brown Thomas. She is actually lovely. I mean, seriously lovely and also, you actually can't take a bad photo of her - trust me, I took a lot of pictures and I chose the best ones - and it was hard to do so!
The new Triumph Essence collection has been co designed with Helena and Triumph and both have great experience in style! Triumph besides being a fantastic brand, have a real fan base amongst my readers - some of the pieces I have written about the brand are amongst the most read posts on my blog. You guys know what you like!
The collection is gorgeous. There is no other way of describing it. It's sexy, functional and comfortable. I fell in love with the little lace skirt and matching bra - I've always liked a little skirt with underwear - its so sexy, simple yet stunning. I always like suspenders - there is something really 1950s about the design which is great as it suits most shapes.
There were some beautiful white and cream pieces too which are practical but still incredibly sexy. I like the idea of functional yet beautiful underwear. I generally like to wear quirky pieces which I know are there - I don't care if they are never seen but I'm happy to know, I'm wearing them!
It's hard to believe it but, Triumph are 125 years old! This is the second wonderful event from Triumph that I have been to in Brown Thomas - the first was a collection of student designed underwear in which Limerick School of Art and Design scooped first, second and third prizes - GO TEAM! - Sorry, former LSAD head here! But my point is this - Triumph and Brown Thomas really know how to put on a fantastic show and really provide their customers with beautiful, yet functional designs consistently - which is why they have been around for so long. I have mentioned the words 'functional' a lot as I used to work selling women's underwear when I started in fashion years ago - its so important to find something that fits - and fits well. Underwear that is beautiful is great but if it doesnt look good under a shirt then forget about it! Not to mention leaves marks, hurts or cuts the skin. This is why when you find a brand which offers quality like Triumph - you stick with it!
The collection is on sale at Brown Thomas and features some really fantastic pieces - also it is worth noting that BT also have a bra fitting service as well, so you can get measured for the right size.
